From a free conversation to complete Swedish estate administration.
Use the interactive timeline to see how a matter begins, when the engagement agreement is signed, what information is requested, and how Simon may handle the Swedish work.
The first conversation is free for up to 30 minutes and available by phone, video, or in person. No documents are required before the call. Consultations are subject to an initial matter and conflict review. Contacting the firm does not create a lawyer-client relationship.
A direct route from first call to Swedish legal work
Interactive process
Choose a step to see what happens.
This is an orientation, not a promised schedule. The correct route depends on the facts, documents, estate parties, banks, authorities, and jurisdictions.
Step 1 of 5
Talk through the situation
Begin with a conversation in English or Swedish. No documents are required before the call.
You prepare
Explain where Sweden enters the matter and whether the estate includes Swedish bank assets, property or a cooperative apartment, or both.
Simon’s role
Understand the Swedish question, identify the likely service fit, and explain which parts may require separate U.S. advisers.
Keep in mind
The first call is general and subject to a matter and conflict review. It does not create a client relationship or stop a deadline.
Step 2 of 5
Review fit and scope
Clarify the people, assets, institutions, urgency, and expected amount of Swedish work.
You prepare
Answer the focused questions Simon identifies after the first conversation. Do not send sensitive documents through a general form.
Simon’s role
Review fit and conflicts, decide whether the firm can consider the matter, and identify any immediate Swedish deadline question.
Keep in mind
A Swedish estate-inventory meeting should normally occur within three months after death; filing should normally follow within one month. Exceptions can apply.
Step 3 of 5
Receive and sign the engagement agreement
The Swedish work, responsibilities, communication, and pricing are set out before work begins.
You prepare
Review and sign the engagement agreement if the proposed scope and terms are acceptable.
Simon’s role
Provide the proposed Swedish tasks, pricing or fee structure, and dependencies on banks, authorities, heirs, or outside advisers.
Keep in mind
The scope and sequence can change if facts, documents, or institutional requirements change.
Step 4 of 5
Provide the requested information
Once engaged, collect only the records needed for the agreed Swedish work.
You prepare
Provide requested information through the agreed channel and arrange signatures, certifications, or decisions when required.
Simon’s role
Identify the correct Swedish documents and authority route before the family sends originals, translations, apostilles, or bank material.
Keep in mind
Banks and authorities can impose their own identity, compliance, format, certification, and original-document requirements.
Step 5 of 5
Complete and coordinate the Swedish estate
Carry out the estate inventory, bank, property, transfer, communication, and distribution work within the agreed scope.
You prepare
Review decisions and drafts, respond when estate-party input is needed, and follow separate U.S. adviser instructions.
Simon’s role
Handle the agreed Swedish work and collaborate with U.S.-licensed attorneys and tax advisers when needed.
Keep in mind
No outcome or completion date is guaranteed; timing depends on the estate, the parties, institutions, authorities, and advisers involved.
